If you always wait to “feel like” doing something before you do it, then that thing is not important to you. If you only pray when you feel like it, it means that to you, God is just like ice cream or pizza. Devotion is a commitment to something you consider to be higher than you.

In John 6:51, Jesus said: “I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever.” Jesus tells us that anyone who eats and drinks his body and blood will live forever. How much more the woman who carried Him in her womb for nine months?

When you do something continuously for a while, you soon begin to take it for granted. It is not surprising to see many Christians today who do not believe in the power of prayers anymore; Christians who look down on God and on His ability to intervene in their lives. Even though most of us pray, we do not even expect the things we pray for.
